The golden rules of perfect hands

  1. Always (absolutely always!) use rubber gloves when doing housework.
  2. Always carry a nail file with you in your handbag. This way you will be ready to handle small breaks right away before they become large.
  3. Use moisturizer after every hand-washing.
  4. Drink water. This is an important factor which few people consider and even fewer keep. You should drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Water transports nutrients throughout the body and rids it of toxins. Nails, as well as hair, are made out of keratin – an ingredient in protein. The strength of hair and nails depends on the presence of sulfur in the amino acids which form the keratin. And last, but not least, water and fat molecules can be found in the nails between the keratin cells. They give the nails their gentle pink color and shine. This is why daily consumption of enough water is so essential for nail care.
  5. A healthy, balanced diet, containing a large amount of fruits and vegetables is also a good start. It will provide the body with the vitamins and minerals it needs for inner health and outer beauty. Some vitamins and minerals directly affect the way our nails look. For example – vitamins A and B are needed for strength, calcium for hardness. Folic acid makes the nails flexible; biotin is needed for their growth, while fatty acids give them smoothness, luster and beauty.

Feet are a big part of pedicure

Pedicure is not just about toenails. You can have the best toenails, in the perfect shape and color, but if your feet are dry and flaky or your heels are cracking, you will not be able to confidently wear sandals. Try these tips to keep your feet in shape.
Warm foot bath
To prevent the skin on your feet from becoming rough or your heels from cracking, you will have to make time to give them some TLC at least once every two weeks. Treat them to a 20 minute warm bubble bath with a sponge stone or foot rub to remove the hardened cells. Dry your feet and rub them with olive oil. In 15 minutes dab the excess oil. Do not wash the rest of it away with soap.
One-week mask
Add one teaspoon of honey to one package of beauty clay. Mix with a little water to form a creamy substance. Apply this mask to your heels every evening. Cover with a piece of cotton and put on cotton socks. Follow up with Vaseline containing bees wax. Do this for a week and your heels will feel the effect.

The latest tendencies for sharp manicure

The latest tendency in manicure seems to be dictated by Rihanna and the scandalous Lady GaGa who are bending fashion to a new eccentric degree. According to their stylists, the nail can be very sharp or a little blunted, but the top angle should definitely be less than 60 degrees.
Sharp nails first appear in the 80s and were then popular among the working class – mostly among secretaries and typists. During the 90s they undergo a transformation becoming part of the image of the vamp-woman – sharp red nails, long enough to sink into any man’s back.
Colors
The colors most suitable for sharp nails today are red, black and white, gray, blue and purple. You can experiment with brighter colors, but be careful – the line between eccentricity and caricature is very thin. For best results you can turn to a specialist who will shape your nails and choose the color which suits you most.
This nail shape is very good for applications, piercing, gem incrustations and all kinds of other fashionable manicure details.
